Privacy Policy

freedomCarb is designed to work without an account. This policy explains what data we collect to provide photo-based calorie analysis and history, and how it's handled.

Data We Collect

  • An anonymous session identifier and a device-held session key, generated on first launch — no name, email, or phone number is collected or required.
  • Photos of meals you choose to analyze, stored to keep them viewable in your history until you delete that entry.
  • The food items, estimated quantities, and nutrition values (calories, protein, carbs, fat) produced by analyzing each photo.
  • Nutrition profile fields you optionally enter (birth year, biological sex, height, weight, activity level), used to estimate a daily calorie target.
  • Credit balance and transaction history (purchases, refunds, and photo-analysis usage) tied to your session.
  • Purchase receipt data sent by the App Store or Google Play when you buy a credit pack, used to verify the purchase and credit your session.

How We Use Data

  • Send your meal photo to an AI vision model to identify food items and estimate their nutritional content.
  • Show your meal history and daily calorie total.
  • Track and apply your credit balance for pay-per-use features.
  • Verify in-app purchases with Apple or Google.
  • Diagnose issues and improve app reliability.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Meal photos are shared with the AI provider used to analyze them (via Cloudflare AI Gateway) solely to produce the nutrition estimate. Purchase data is shared with Apple or Google solely to verify transactions. Data is otherwise shared only with infrastructure providers required to operate the app (Cloudflare, for storage and compute).

Data Retention

Meal photos and their analysis are kept until you delete that entry from your history, at which point the photo is removed from storage. Session, credit, and profile data are retained while your session is active and may be deleted on request.

Your Choices

  • You can delete any meal from your history at any time, which removes its photo from storage.
  • The nutrition profile is entirely optional and can be left blank or cleared at any time.
  • Uninstalling the app, or requesting deletion via support, removes your session and its associated data.
  • You can revoke the app's photo library or camera access at any time from your device's system settings.
